What is RCYM?
The Reformed Church Youth Movement (RCYM) is the official youth ministry of the Reformed Churches in Synod Midlands, South Africa. Formerly known as the Christian Youth Movement, it was renamed in 1991 to explicitly reflect its Reformed identity.
RCYM exists to bring young believers together for mutual edification, encouragement through Scripture and prayer, and to help one another become active, useful members serving in the church and witnessing Christ to the world.

Our Desire
Young people desire to feel that they have a place in the Church of Christ and are indeed part of the body of Christ. They desire to be equipped to function as Christians in their daily lives and to spread the Gospel to the world outside.
Biblical Foundation
Ecclesiastes 11:9–12:1
Living a God-centered life in one's youth. Young people must remember their Creator and recognize that all actions are accountable to God's judgment.
Psalm 119:9–16
Spiritual purity and sanctification. Young people keep their way pure by taking heed of God's Word, hiding Scripture in their hearts, and seeking God wholeheartedly.
2 Timothy 2:22
Moral and relational directives for youth. Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace alongside fellow believers.
Our Catechetical Approach
Grounded in a covenantal foundation, our catechesis transmits biblical truth to bring about sound doctrine, spiritual maturity, and unity in Christ.
Beyond Rote Memorization: A holistic method combining biblical truth with reflective application to daily life.
Transformative Shift: A Holy Spirit-inspired change in thinking that equips youth with tools to navigate modern cultural pressures.
Insights from Research
Our minister, Rev Mvaleliso George Mdluli, conducted research on effectively ministering to the RCYM. Key findings revealed:
Young people have a strong desire to be ministered to and become active, useful instruments in the church.
They desire to feel part of the body of Christ and be equipped to live out their faith daily.
